Passport 2 Fitness is an exciting program for children in grades 3 – 8 in Pasquotank, Perquimans, Camden, and Currituck counties.
The purpose of this program is to encourage physical activity. Your child’s goal is to run/walk in as many 1 mile or 5K races in this area. The following races are currently scheduled:
- Currituck County 4H 4K on June 8, 2013
- Culpepper’s Rebellion Mud Run on June 29, 2013
- Waterway 5K/1M Run on September 28, 2013
- Battle of the Albemarle on October 26, 2013
- Kids First Turnkey Trot on November 30, 2013
Each child participating will receive a Healthy Carolinians Runners t-shirt, and a Passport 2 Fitness booklet, which will be mailed to you with your child’s race picture and results from their first race.
Please keep this record and take to every race attended.
At each race, a page will be signed in the passport booklet by a race/program representative.
Your child is encouraged to record their running time for each race in order to see their improvement. This is not a contest against other runners, but an effort to improve your own running time.
Your child’s times will be recorded and kept by Healthy Carolinians of the Albemarle, a community based organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals through health and wellness.
At the end of the school year, all children participating in 3 or more races will receive a prize. Additionally, larger prizes will be given to the girl and boy with the most improved time in each county.
If your child is interested in signing up or if you have any questions, please call Amanda Betts at 252-338-4440 or email at email@example.com.
